Does BeagleBoard BSP supports Kernel debugging through ethernet?

Hello there,

My interest here is to develop driver for OMAP processor peripherals. Let's say I'm buying your source code BSP for BeagleBoard XM. I'm wondering how much support you have to do kernel debugging through in-built Ethernet port?

Thanks,

You cannot do kitl debugging on Beagleboard xM via the Ethernet port because the Ethernet controller is not native on the ARM bus, Ethernet is interfaced over USB on the SMSC USB hub (I.e. the Hub has a Ethernet controller integrated with it both of which interface via USB).

You can use the USB kitl debugger (via the USB OTG connection) and that is what I use. It is a little hard to set up but when working it works quite well.

Of course ActiveSync (via the same OTG connection) works just great for Smart Device Development and application debugging.
